
We are incredibly proud to announce that Haloderma is an official partner in HALO-TEX—an ambitious research and innovation project backed by a grant from the EU’s prestigious Horizon Europe programme.
Together with a strong consortium of nine expert partners from across Europe led by Aalborg University, we are on a four-year mission to revolutionize the way everyday products are made. Our goal is to move away from fossil resources and build a truly sustainable, circular future.
The Magic of Salt-Tolerant Plants Today, the global textile and beauty industries put a massive strain on our planet’s resources, consuming enormous amounts of freshwater and valuable agricultural land. HALO-TEX offers a brilliant, nature-based solution: Halophytes.
Halophytes (such as Sea Aster and Sarcocornia) are incredible “super-plants” that thrive in harsh, salty coastal environments where normal crops simply cannot survive. By cultivating these resilient plants on marginal lands, we avoid competing with global food production. Even better, they require very little freshwater and actively help clean and regenerate degraded soils!
Zero Waste: Using Every Part of the Plant The HALO-TEX project is built on a strict “zero-waste” philosophy. While our European partners extract the tough plant fibers to create the sustainable, recyclable clothing of the future, Haloderma focuses on the plant’s hidden treasures: its nutrient-rich juices and extracts.
Haloderma’s Role: Upcycled, Science-Backed Skincare To survive in their extreme environments, halophytes naturally produce exceptionally high concentrations of protective compounds and powerful antioxidants.
In the HALO-TEX project, Haloderma’s primary role is to take these potent, natural extracts—which would otherwise be a byproduct of textile production—and transform them into a next-generation of premium skincare. Our research and development team will:

Extract and evaluate the natural antioxidants and hydrating plant sugars.

Scientifically validate their ability to protect the skin, fight free radicals, and promote a healthy glow.

Develop and test exciting new, safe, and highly effective cosmetic formulas, such as premium creams and serums.
By upcycling these coastal plants into both eco-friendly clothing and high-value cosmetics, the HALO-TEX project proves that nature already holds the blueprint for a greener, zero-waste future.
